Tournament Weigh-in Procedure
Tournament Weigh-in Procedure
MYWAY Central Region is following a No Weigh-In Procedure. This means Charlotte Grapplers is responsible as a club for weighing in our wrestlers before each tournament and registering our wrestlers in the proper weight class.
As a wrestling club Charlotte Grapplers will follow the following procedure:
-Any wrestler planning to wrestle on the upcoming Sunday must pay electronically* by Wednesday evening.
-A list of paid wrestlers will be printed and taken to practice on Thursday. If you did not pay your wrestler's name will not be on the printed list.
-Paid wrestlers on the printed list will weigh-in at the start of practice on Thursday.
-Charlotte Grapplers will register each wrestler in the proper weight class - no weight allowance**. If the wrestler weighs in at 78.2 pounds and weight classes are 78 or 82 they will be registered as 82.
*Charlotte Grapplers has elected to go to cash-free registrations. We will publish a link for each tournament to pay electronically for the tournament in advance to help streamline registrations and ensure that the club is paid for kids who plan to wrestle without having to keep track of who has and hasn't paid at weigh in. New in 2023-2024 season the club must pay at the time of registration, MYWAY Central Region will not be accepting cash at tournaments.
**MYWAY does allow a 2lb weight allowance on weight classes. Charlotte Grapplers stance on this is that the 2lb weight allowance is to allow kids to eat a normal breakfast on Sunday rather than worrying about weight audits. Therefore Charlotte Grapplers will view weight classes as "no more than" the set weight to allow kids the full 2lb weight allowance on Sunday. This is also the MYWAY Central Region Director's direction, and the Charlotte Grapplers will comply with that direction. If a kid does get disqualified for being over their 2lb allowance on Sunday there is NO REFUND and the kid may be required to weigh in for every tournament for the remainder of the season.
